Christiane Hergert received her Master of Arts degrees in English and American studies as well as in Library studies from Humboldt University in Berlin, including a study year abroad at Goldsmiths’ College of the University of London.

She has worked in a variety of academic, special, and public libraries in Germany and Great Britain for more than 30 years, starting with the public libraries of Berlin Lichtenberg, followed by the branch library of the Department of Theology of Humboldt University, Westminster Libraries in London and the special library of the Foundation for Further Qualification and Consulting Services on Cultural Activities in Berlin Mitte. From 1998 to 2004 she worked as a librarian and researcher on title protection issues for the Bibliographic Agency and Publishing Company O. Gracklauer.

In 2005, she joined Touro College Berlin and has run and extended the Szloma Albam Library ever since.
